Thinking of Christmas

Christmas 2014

Christmas 2014

Christmas is pretty much  over and now we are on to New Year’s Eve and looking towards 2015.

Take a few minutes to think back on your Christmas. For some it is great fun, being among family, the excitement of decoration and presents. For others it is something to be tolerated for the shortest possible time and then  back to their normal life and friends. Or we just find our relatives irritating when closeted with them for  too much time. Continue reading

Change with confidence

This season is changing slowly. And then suddenly the right conditions occur and change happens quickly, leaves fall, temperatures fall and we’re into winter.

This year the seasons have been slow to change. The leaves are still reluctantly turning yellow; some trees are only just starting to think about it; others have done what they are meant to do and are now stripped bare, showing off their winter profile. Continue reading

New Year’s Resolutions

2014

2014

New year.  New year plans. Who or what are we going to be / do / achieve in 2014?

It is that time for New Year resolutions. However much people say I don’t bother making them, inevitably thoughts turn towards the future. However good it was, we always want to achieve something more, something different.

How you do things

The way you are

Christmas windowIt occurred to me when I was in London last week and seeing all the Christmas razmatazz going on that everything was a little early.  It was only November. It felt as if Christmas  was  just around the corner.  Well, it is. But I actually think and see it around several corners. And, perhaps,  that way of thinking, is the difference between deciding why I do things the way I do. Continue reading

As if…. Confident

As if …. I am confident  As if …. I am happy

I was recently reading an article in the Observer where Dawn French was talking about confidence.  And the lack of it.  We all go through those moments from time to time;  feeling confident on one occasion and confidence crashes on another. It happens particularly in those times when we are doing something different, something we haven’t done before, meeting a room full of people we don’t know. Continue reading

Talking and listening

Celebrate Talking and Listening

There are a few things I’ve been thinking about recently. Talking and Listening. Simple things.  And I love the simple things of life.  So I am saddened that neither things are happening quite in the way that they used to.  Technology has taken over and picking up the phone seems somehow outdated, people don’t do it any longer. Texts can ping pong back and forth and sometimes it is simply easier to talk. Continue reading

Break through the Fear

We are all fearful from time to time.  Can I do it?  Will I make a fool of myself?  Will I fail? Will I let someone down?

Can you think of a time when you were really fearful? I remember as a child running down our dark driveway to the house.  I  focussed on the outside light that my mother had left on and ran fit to burst towards that light, thinking some Thing was out to get me. But each and every time I ran past through that fear and made it home. Continue reading
